14.1.5 BP and RP mean spectra
The BP and RP spectra are published for some 220 M sources. For each source we give 55 coefficients to a set of basis functions for the BP spectrum and in addition 55 coefficients to a (different) set of basis functions for the RP spectrum.
Tests include:
-
•
The general properties of the coefficients are discussed in Section 14.2.4;
-
•
The shape of the spectra and the capacity for producing a coarse stellar classification from the coefficients are discussed in Section 14.2.4;
-
•
Section 14.2.4 discusses that the integrated fluxes from the spectra show relatively large differences – under certain circumstances – to the XP mean photometry;
-
•
Analysis of stars in clusters, Section 14.7.2, suggests deficient quality in the colour range 1.0–1.5;
-
•
Tests using clusters also suggest that the uncertainties on the spectral coefficients are underestimated by a factor between 1.2 and 1.5, cf. Section 14.7.2.
