8.1.5 Radial velocities

The main task for the RVS data has been the validation of the mapping of the radial velocities from Gaia DR2 to Gaia EDR3 (the radial velocities themselves having already been validated in the previous release). Initially this mapping was envisaged to be a simple source_id to source_id match, but during the validation the detection of problems in this simple approach have led to a more sophisticated strategy to correct problems for a small subset of the stars. Please refer to Seabroke et al. (2020) for more details on the mapping, that was jointly validated by CU6 and CU9.
